Bewitched by magic, Agatha Harkness regains her freedom thanks to the help of a teenager. Intrigued by his request, she embarks on the Witch’s Trials of the Road to regain her powers and uncover the teen’s motivations. The result is this
The series as a whole is rated a little lower than it really deserves at the time of this writing, although that’s understandable – it’s taken some time for it to truly establish a fully magic-focused series and a new cast of characters. a bit odd considering the show’s goal: popping balloons and then explosions. As the cast shrinks, the episodes improve significantly.
Not as impressive as Wandavision, but (to my surprise) not a disappointing sequel either
The show focuses best on specific character stories; it’s in the more personal moments where the writing really starts to shine. The result is that while the first few episodes feel like they need a minute to “get going,” they’re still ‘good’, but the show actually gets pretty good once it hits its stride. Overall 8/10.
